Our client a leading sports broadcaster is looking for a talented and experienced network lines coordinator to join their expanding operation in the UK.

Overview:

Manage and coordinate all lines bookings for live and delayed sporting events and programmes on four live sport channels.  This includes, but is not limited to UK, European and US sourced content from various sporting leagues (i.e. English Premier League, Aviva Rugby, FA Cup, NFL, NBA, MLB etc.)

Liaise and communicate directly with intra-company International departments and third party providers on a daily basis.

Work within an existing television team to help facilitate major aspects of live and delayed transmission on a fortnightly shift pattern.  Will be assigned to work in transmission facility, and Chiswick production office on a rotating basis (day shifts and evening shifts rotate as well).

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work as part of a team of Network Lines Coordinators to cover 7 days, 24 hours a week bookings schedules.
  • Book, update and review satellite bookings including external communications with broadcasters, downlink facilities and playout facilities across Europe and the rest of the world.
  • Manage satellite and fibre bookings including external communications with broadcasters and downlink facility in USA.
  • Create NCS/ADT Work Orders for US high profile sporting events.
  • Work closely with Operations Managers, Program Planners, Production, and Schedulers in order to ensure all scheduled programming is made available for Playout.
  • Maintain and export line bookings database on a daily basis and make sure all lines are booked, communicated and recorded.
  • Respond to appropriate transmission requests as referred to on daily transmission logs.
  • Maintain and operate router panel for fibre network.
  • Assist with monthly forecasting, tracking and reporting of scheduled product as it relates to reconciliation with recorded hours and broadcast hours.

Assist Operations Managers in transmissions to provide the third party playout with directions, which can include editorial decisions to the programming schedule based on overnight over runs, under runs or technical difficulties.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with live TV and/or transmission is desirable
  • Understanding of basic satellite operations is preferred
  • Interest and knowledge of European and/or American Sport is preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of a bookings database is helpful
  • Understanding the basic use of the Internet as a research tool in regards to sports team and leagues

  • To fix issues that arise or escalate by the appropriate channels

Requirements

 

  • Ideally educated to degree level or recognized equivalent
  • Broadcast Engineering experience
  • Experience in the design, construction and operation of complex broadcast systems infrastructure in a tapeless environment would be an advantage
  • Track record of technical excellence with a willingness and ability to take part in developing business opportunities
